Giacomo Borgogno & Figli Derthona Timorasso Colli Tortonesi 2019

Critical Acclaim: 94 pts Decanter.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes: Intense yellow color, consistent and very clear. The nose is complex: in the early years there are fruity aromas, reminiscent of pear, peach, and floral, of acacia and hawthorn flowers, honey and hydrocarbons. In the mouth it is dry, wide, warm and soft, dominated by a good balance between high alcohol content and high content of organic acids; It has no edges, but a balanced and very persistent body emerges.

"The first vintage from 100% estate-owned grapes, grown in Colli Tortonesi and macerated for three days in stainless steel then cold-settled, before fermentation in cement. Matured in stainless steel for 10 months and then seven months in bottle, it jumps from the glass with honeyed, waxy aromas, super-fresh yet hinting at richness. Flavours of pithy citrus peel, hay and lanolin on the textured palate are well balanced by gum-tingling acidity. An ageable white that will reveal more layers in time."- Decanter.

Serving Suggestions: The Derthona goes perfectly with rich recipes, fish dishes such as anchovies, scallops, but also with appetizers of Piedmontese cuisine such as Russian salad (boiled vegetables cut into small pieces combined with mayonnaise), veal with tuna sauce (thin slices of cooked meat served cold accompanied by egg and tuna sauce), raw meat all'albese with truffle; second courses such as stuffed zucchini flowers, battered vegetables and blue cheeses with fat paste.

Varietal: Timorasso.
