Tenuta Bocca di Lupo 'Pietrabianca' Castel del Monte 2024

Critical Acclaim: 92 pts Wine Advocate; 91 pts Wine Spectator.

About the Winery: Tenuta Bocca di Lupo is part of Tormaresca, the Antinori family's Puglian wine project. The Antinori family began working in Puglia under the Tormaresca label in 1998, bringing with them more than six centuries and 26 generations of family winemaking tradition dating to 1385.

About the Wine: Pietrabianca takes its name from the pale limestone stones that farmers once struck while plowing these fields. Tenuta Bocca di Lupo's certified-organic vineyards sit about 820 feet above sea level in Puglia's Alta Murgia, where calcareous, low-nutrient soils give the wine freshness, savory definition, and aromatic precision. Part of the Chardonnay ferments and ages on the lees in French oak barriques, while the Fiano and remaining Chardonnay ferment in stainless steel before blending and bottle aging.

Winemaker Tasting Notes: Straw yellow with green highlights. The nose opens with white-fleshed fruit and orange blossom, followed by fresh mint, arugula, aromatic herbs, and a subtle thread of vanilla. The palate is bright and lively, finishing with the crisp minerality that defines Tenuta Bocca di Lupo's soils.

"The organic Tenuta Bocca di Lupo 2024 Castel del Monte Chardonnay Pietrabianca is blended with 10% Fiano in a supporting role. The vineyards are planted on calcareous soils, resulting in good freshness, salty sensations with preserved lemon, orchard fruit and tropical tones. The wine feels glossy in texture and proceeds with an honest or down-to-earth personality. If you're going to go for a slightly more structured white wine from Puglia, this is a good choice."- Wine Advocate.

"A harmonious white framed by refreshing acidity, with notes of baked melon, lemon curd and white blossoms enriched by hints of toasted brioche and crushed almond. Lightly spiced and lingering on the finish."- Wine Spectator.

Serving Suggestion: Grilled fish, baccalà, shellfish, and roasted or grilled white meats.

Varietal: 90% Chardonnay; 10% Fiano.

Location: Castel del Monte DOC; Puglia, Italy.
