Daniel Twardowski Pinot Noix 3rd Mosel 2022

We-32921077

Critical acclaim: 95 pts James Suckling

About the Winery: Daniel Twardowski is a Mosel winemaker based in Neumagen-Dhron, working with Pinot Noir on the steep slate slopes of the Dhroner Hofberg. His Pinot Noix project is one of Germany's most distinctive Pinot Noir stories, bringing Burgundy-minded Pinot into the cool, mineral world of the Mosel.

About the Wine: Pinot Noix 3rd is the more immediately approachable side of Twardowski's Mosel Pinot Noir. It keeps the same slate-country DNA as the flagship Ardoise, but the feel is a little more open-knit, lifted, and ready to enjoy. Think red fruit, fine spice, smoky mineral notes, and the kind of freshness that makes Pinot Noir feel alive rather than heavy.

Tasting Notes: Bright cherry, wild strawberry, red currant, rose petal, smoke, flint, and gentle spice. The palate is sleek and energetic, with fine tannins, vibrant acidity, and a clean slate-driven finish.

This is an entry-level pinot noir, but it is mind-blowlingly expressive. Huge Amarena cherry fruit, but also a slew of black pepper, raw meat and slate on the staggeringly vibrant, medium-bodied palate. Enormous energy and freshness in the finish, which is typical of Mosel. Drink from release.”- James Suckling

Serving Suggestion: Pair with roast chicken, duck, salmon, pork tenderloin, mushroom dishes, and charcuterie. Serve slightly cool and give it 20 minutes of air.

Varietal: Pinot Noir.
