Critical Acclaim: 93 pts Wine Enthusiast; 92 pts Vinous.
About the Winery: Ciavolich has worked the vineyards of Abruzzo since the nineteenth century. Its Fosso Cancelli collection explores the traditional varieties and cellar methods of Loreto Aprutino.
About the Wine: A still Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo rosé made from Montepulciano. After brief skin contact in concrete, part of the fermenting must is drawn off by the traditional salasso method, then fermented and aged on fine lees in terracotta amphorae.
Winemaker's Tasting Notes: Vivid cherry-red in the glass, with ripe red fruit, freshness, savory depth and a saline finish.
"The nose is fresh and floral, with aromas of rose petals, strawberries and wild cherries, but also has a weightier, grounding earthiness." - Wine Enthusiast.
"It's round, verging on fleshy yet not entirely, with masses of mineral-tinged red berries perfectly offset by zesty citrus tones." - Vinous.
Serving Suggestion: Serve cool with charcuterie, tomato-based pasta, grilled seafood or roast poultry.
Varietal: Montepulciano.
