Terre Nere Campigli Vallone Brunello di Montalcino 2019

Critical Acclaim: 95 pts Wine Enthusiast; 95 pts James Suckling';92 pts Jeb Dunnuck; 92 pts Decanter.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes: The color is ruby red with a garnet rim. The aroma is a full expression of Sangiovese, with slightly acidic opening notes of eucalyptus and peppermint, followed by delicate fruity aromas of blackcurrant, maraschino and candied fruits of the forest, with a final note of vanilla, liquorish and tobacco. The palate is full bodied, yet elegant and refined with soft and silky tannins. Fresh blackberry flavours play beautifully with the sweet notes of liquorish, mint and clove. Strong acidity with a great capacity to age in the bottle.

"The warm, umami nose features aromas of damp earth, balsamic, warm crushed stones and tart cherries. The cherries ripen on the palate and are joined by raspberries and more earth, before a warm embrace of a finish, locked into place by structured, formidable tannins."- Wine Enthusiast.

"Crunchy strawberries and orange blossoms with lifted, aromatic floral notes of potpourri, violets and rose hips. Elegant yet vibrant and juicy. Medium-bodied with chewy yet fine-textured tannins and a pleasant backbone of acidity. Beautiful length with subtle balsamic notes at the end. Try after 2027."- James Suckling.

"Pouring a youthful, rich ruby color, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino is lush with aromas of crushed cherries, pressed violets, rosemary, and anise. Open and inviting, it’s medium to full-bodied, with fine tannins and a ripe, rounded mid-palate, a supple texture, and a clean finish. It retains lovely freshness and is ready to enjoy now or over the coming 6-8 years."- Jeb Dunnuck.

"With 10 contiguous hectares of vineyards in the far southeast of Montalcino, Terre Nere crafts this solid and sturdy Riserva from a single, low-yielding plot on stony, mineral-rich soil. The 2019 opens with Chinese five-spice atop dark cherry and a touch of soy. It is densely packed, but earthy and mineral-driven rather than gushing with fruit. Iron and graphite suffuse the palate, and the tannins are firm, angular and even imposing at the moment. As of 2018, the Vallone family works with consulting oenologist Giuseppe Gorelli, and with this 2019 vintage the wines are certified organic."- Decanter.
