Forman Chardonnay 2023

Winemaker Tasting Notes: Brilliantly clear with perfect light-yellow green tints of color. The nose certainly indicates a wine from a great vintage. Quite powerfully scented with an abundance of ripe pear, citrus rind, and that unmistakably rich aroma from barrel fermentation and sur lees aging. Complex aromas go on and on. Although the alcohol is only 12.8% the body is full and rich with a perfect high-level tartness to balance. The fruit flavors are so evident that one barely notices an oak flavor, but it is there in the background and helps to round out and enrich the already powerful character. What a hallmark wine this is. One can only imagine its potential for lasting development in bottle.

"The 2023 Chardonnay is powerful, rich, deep and intense in the glass. Lemon confit, sage, mint and chamomile are all dialed up. The Chardonnay is a blend of two picks, one on the early side for freshness, a second later for texture. As always, the Chardonnay does not undergo malolactic fermentation. New wood is 30%, a bit more than in the past. It's a style that works quite well. This remains one of the most distinctive Chardonnays in the United States. Superb."- Vinous.
