CVNE Imperial Reserva Rioja 2017

Critical Acclaim: 93 pts James Suckling; 91 pts Wine Spectator; 91 pts Wilfred Wong; 90 pts Decanter.

Winemaker Tasting Notes: Deep cherry red in colour. The nose is attractive and complex, combining the fruit driven notes from the blend of varieties with those from the ageing in French and American oak barrels. The palate is well rounded, with the clear process of supple, silky tannins and concludes with a long and very pleasing finish. We have a wine which will evolve and develop well in the bottle over the years to come.

"A firm, tannic red with blackberry and walnut character on both the nose and palate. It’s full-bodied and chewy with a long, flavorful finish. Needs bottle age to soften. Try after 2022."- James Suckling.

"A fresh and elegant red, which deftly knits sinewy tannins with roasted black plum, graphite and black cherry flavors and savory accents of beef bouillon, smoke and tobacco. Lingering and chewy finish. Tempranillo, Graciano, Mazuelo and Garnacha. Drink now."- Wine Spectator.

"The 2017 C.V.N.E. Imperial is a well-built red wine. TASTING NOTES: This wine offers aromas and flavors of savory spices, earthy notes, and attractive black fruits. Pair it with grilled lamb chops and saffron rice."- Wilfred Wong.

"Black cherry, ripe strawberry, floral and toasty nose. The palate offers completely integrated oak, silky, round tannins and forest fruit flavours. A lovely wine. Blend: 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, 5% Mazuelo."- Decanter.

Serving Suggestion: Oily Fish, game, red meats and cured cheeses.
