About the Winery: Olivier Leflaive is a Puligny-Montrachet-based Burgundy house known for long-term grower relationships and a precise, terroir-focused range from across the Côte de Beaune.
About the Wine: Sous Frétille sits high on the hillside above Pernand-Vergelesses, close to Corton-Charlemagne. The Premier Cru’s south-facing, limestone-marl slopes rise roughly 320 to 380 meters and are devoted to white wine from Chardonnay. Sous Frétille would come from "below the small forest". Replanted as a village appellation in the 1970s / 1980s, it was considered one of the best wine. It was classified as Premier Cru in 2001.
Winemaker's Tasting Notes: A precise wine, carried by a beautiful mineral structure. Energetic and vibrant, it offers a tense and radiant structure, perfect for lovers of freshness and purity. The finish, clean and persistent, leaves an impression of great vitality.
White flowers, green apple, lemon peel and pear lead into a poised, gently textured palate. Chalky minerality, subtle hazelnut and a saline edge bring definition to the long, fresh finish.
Serving Suggestion: It goes well with goat cheese and almond crostini, a chanterelle tart or even pan-fried turbot.
Varietal: Chardonnay.
