Critical Acclaim: 96 pts James Suckling; 96 pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate; 92 pts Vinous.
About the Winery: G.D. Vajra is a family estate in Barolo. Aldo Vaira adopted organic farming practices in 1971, and the family continues to farm its vineyards with close attention to soil health and biodiversity.
About the Wine: Bricco delle Viole is a high-elevation cru above the village of Barolo, between 400 and 480 meters, with vines planted in 1931, 1949 and 1968. The 2022 received a 49-day maceration and aged 22 months in large Slavonian oak casks.
Tasting Notes: Violet, wild rose, ripe strawberry, red and black cherry, blueberry, mint, white truffle, star anise and wild fennel unfold into dark mineral tones. The palate is powerful yet elegant, with refined tannins, subtle salinity and an exceptionally persistent finish.
Serving Suggestion: Decant for two hours and serve at cellar temperature with truffle pasta, braised beef, game, porcini mushrooms or mature cheeses.
Varietal: 100% Nebbiolo.
